Can we make a sad tooth happy? Of course we can!

Lisa, the dental hygienist, visited this week and showed all the children how to take care of their teeth. All the teeth enjoyed a thorough brushing and flossing. Lisa talked about healthy snacks, too.

Bringing Warmth

Today we visited Lunch Break a soup kitchen in Red Bank, New Jersey. In addition to providing wholesome food for those in need, they also have a clothing distribution program. Our school collected coats and other winter clothing to donate to Lunch Break. The children toured the facility and enjoyed a snack there.

Miss Peggy gave us a tour of the pantry.

We had a wonderful trip and learned so much!

Snow Fun

When it's too cold to play outside, it's fun to bring the snow inside.

Mittens and gloves keep little fingers warm.

This is so much more interesting than sand.

I wonder if it tastes good, too.

Today was really special. We went on a trip to find the perfect pumpkin. It was not easy because there were so many beautiful pumpkins! We went on a hayride and petted the animals in the petting zoo, too. We had so much fun!

Apple Picking

We went on a class trip to the orchard today. It was a perfect day. The sun was warm and the sky was clear.

We picked apples: Golden Delicious apples, Red Delicious apples, Winesaps, and Ida Reds. The apples taste so much better when you've just pulled them off the tree. Some of us just couldn't wait to bite into one of our juicy apples.

Tomorrow we are going to make Apple Crisp in school!

Sharing and Cooperation

Orientation Day went well! Everyone had a wonderful time. There were lots of smiling faces and no tears.

Our parent orientation meeting is on Tuesday night, September 7, 2010, at 7:30 p.m.

The meeting will be held in the library.

School will open with orientation days for the children beginning on September 13, 2010.

Today we celebrated the end of another school year with our annual picnic. There were ponies to ride, a bouncy castle to jump in, lots of games, music, and plenty of food. Best of all, the clouds stayed away!

Everyone decorated a bag to hold all their prizes.

The ponies were just the right size.

Tatoos were all the rage!

Music filled the air.

It was fun to dig for buried treasure.

There's nothing like a frosty snowcone on a hot day.

The Magic of Baking Soda and Vinegar

Our pre-k class has been learning the alphabet, one letter each week, and the year has gone by quickly. We are now up to the letter V. What better V word is there than volcano? To demonstrate the activity of a volcano, we mixed together vinegar and baking soda. (Vinegar is another word that begins with V!)

Everyone waits patiently for something to happen.

Moms and Dads should try this at home! You'll get instant laughs. :^) But you better have a lot of baking soda and vinegar on hand, because your children will want to do it over and over again.

Watercolors!

Spring is here and rain poured down on the daffodils outside, but inside the children had fun with watercolors.

Our Castle

The children worked diligently putting together this magnificent castle. With everyone's cooperation, the castle was so beautiful--so we had to snap a picture before we took it apart.

And sho knows? Maybe one of the children will become a famous architect.

Our school photographer visited today. He can coax a smile from anyone--even grownups. The staff held still for just a few moments to be in this group photo. Then they all went back to work. :^)

Coats For Lunch Break

Every year, our school collects winter clothing for the needy. Monmouth Reform Temple members also donate to our cause. We bundle up used coats and jackets that are clean and in good repair as well as hats, mittens, scarves, and gloves. In January, we take everything to Lunch Break in Red Bank where all the clothes are distributed.

Our Pre-K class made the big trip to Lunch Break on Tuesday. Everyone had coats to carry.

Miss Peggy gave us a tour and introduced us to the cook.

Everyone was busy getting ready for lunch.

We saw the kitchen where all the food is cooked.

Then we visited the pantry where we saw lots of our favorite foods.

We learned that all the food must be tagged with a date.

We all had a snack, too!

Everyone had a great time at Lunch Break.

Music Party

Today we had a music party with Miss Kate. Mommies and Daddies came to the party, too. Everyone had fun playing bells, claves, and tambourines.

Snow Outside, Fun Inside

We had a big snowstorm this past weekend and there's a ton of white stuff blanketing the playground, but there's plenty of fun inside our school.

Fingerpainting Fun

Using fingerpaint is fun. It's slimy and fluid. You can make all kinds of things with fingerpaint. Then you can erase very quickly. Erasing is as delightful as drawing. :^)

Black fingerpaint may not look very appealing, but it is still fun to work with.

Our Thanksgiving Show

Our children practiced for weeks and it was worth it. Our annual Thanksgiving show turned out to be a big hit! Indians and Pilgrims sang songs and used a Indian sign language to say "I love you" to their mothers, fathers, and grandparents.

After the show, there were plenty of refreshments. Everyone had a great time.

Picking the Perfect Pumpkin

All the classes in our school went on a class trip this week. The children enjoyed a hayride, picked the perfect pumpkin and spent some time in a petting zoo. There were smiles all around.

Orientation Day

Monday, September 14, 2009, will be orientation day for the children in our pre-k class, the 3 1/2-4 year olds and the Monday/Wednesday 2 1/2-3 year old class. Orientation is a one hour class, starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 11:00 a.m.

In the afternoon on Monday, there will be an orientation class for the 3 1/2-4 class which will run from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

Tuesday, September 15, 2009, will be orientation day for the children in the Tuesday/Thursday 2 1/2-3 year old class.

On Wednesday, September 16th, we will begin our regular schedule.

Back To School Night
